Figurative sweets for your sweet

Decorate your Valentine’s crafts with cupcakes

I love sugar, baking, and feeling good, hence I love cupcakes. They’re delicious and they’re cute. Just looking at a picture of a cupcake makes me think of a party. Not to mention they’re perfect Valentine’s day treats — that’s a hint for my secret admirers.

My cupcake design, available on Etsy, is sleek and simple. It’s easy to use in paper crafts such as cards and scrapbooking, as well as for vinyl, stenciling, and more. The design comes in SVG, DXF, and vector formats. It’s compatible with Cricut, Silhouette, and other electronic die cutting and laser cutting machines.

For my card, I cut out the image from the card base with my Cricut Maker, then placed patterned paper behind it. It’s a pretty design that takes very little work, especially if your craft area is overflowing with lovely paper like mine is.

I also used my Cricut to die cut the cupcake out of pink and brown patterned paper. It definitely livened up this simple gift bag.

To decorate the mug, I cut out the cupcake from vinyl. I have a love/hate relationship with vinyl: I love the easy, gorgeous results and hate the environmental impact. To mitigate the environmental consequences, I use PVC-free vinyl whenever possible. (While the leopard print vinyl on my mug is PVC-free, the yellow vinyl is Cricut-brand vinyl I received as a gift.)

Now I’m thinking about making real leopard print cupcakes. I’m off to search Pinterest.
